CCCoBIN was established in 2007 by the Chief Compliance Officers (CCOs) of all deposit money banks in Nigeria in collaborating with other development partners and stakeholders including DataPro®.
The objective is to foster the development and growth of AML/CFT compliance culture in our Financial Institutions (FIs) and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) and provide a veritable platform for Cooperation, Collaboration and Coordination (The 3Cs of compliance) among all stakeholders in the fight against money laundering, terrorist financing and the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in Nigeria.
Today, CCCoBIN has the largest pool of experts, practitioners, professionals and stakeholders within the AML/CFT community in Nigeria.
Its membership now cuts across all other Development Banks, Merchant Banks, Discount Houses, International Banks in Nigeria, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), other Banking Regulators and Supervisors, the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The committee has played vital roles in promoting and sustaining the culture of AML/CFT compliance in Nigeria and also insulating our financial system from the activities of money launderers, terrorist financiers, fraudsters and other criminal elements.
The platform provided by CCCoBIN also helps Nigeria fulfils its obligations as contained in Recommendation 2 of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), (The Paris-based International Standard setter on AML/CFT compliance issues worldwide) standards.
